final saturday school
/3 Comments/in saturday school /by Nidhi Chananiat the beginning of 2013 i set out to create hand lettered hindi art every week. my year took an unexpected turn and i made 37 out of 52 weeks. one of the lessons i learned last year is that nothing is certain. it is okay to attempt, to hope, to try. i am happy with what i created and working with my mom was part of the joy.
through the year i kept thinking about creating an alphabet but i wasn’t ready. i needed the experience of hand lettering those 37 before i could create this…Â i feel it truly captures my feelings about hindi and the beauty of language.
this is my last saturday school post, thanks for joining me on this journey.
when i read
/0 Comments/in daily drawing /by Nidhi Chananiit was my mom’s love for books that led me to love reading. because of her i know i can always find great hope, adventure and emotion in books. when i read i can imagine another world. when i read i learn to appreciate this world. most of all when i read i remember days and nights sitting beside my mom, reading.
happy birthday to my favorite person to read with ^_^
born to be wild
/0 Comments/in daily drawing /by Nidhi ChananiI recently watched the documentary Blackfish and I highly recommend it. I love animals. I love animal videos, photos, art and of course, seeing their beauty in person. However, I do not believe we should capture them for that purpose. Dolphins, orcas, and other marine animals do not belong in tanks just as tigers, bears, and elephants do not belong in cages.
The best thing we can do in this world is leave it with more beauty, more love and more compassion. Refusing to support the industries that make animals into entertainment and profit is one small way to ensure that.
