Speaking engagements

I am a lifelong book enthusiast and aim to excite the imagination of my audience to spark the joy of reading.

Welcome educators and librarians! Thank you for your interest in booking me, Nidhi Chanani, for an in-person or virtual visit!

Tell me about your presentation

I will share a fun and interactive powerpoint (or keynote) presentation and talk about my path to art, my creative process for building an idea into a story, and finish with a drawing and storytelling demonstration.

Virtual visits consist of a reading and brief career overview, a collaborative drawing demo followed by ample time for questions.

I can present to kinder through middle school. Every grouping of ages is welcome whether K-2, K-5, etc. I cater each presentation so that if it’s a broad range of ages it’s highly interactive while also delving into the nuts and bolts of writing and illustrating. For younger audiences I ensure engagement through call and response and participation. I understand that paying attention for 45 minutes can be a struggle, so I keep it upbeat and interactive. I also provide worksheets for each of my titles to help engage and excite readers prior to my visit.

How long are the presentations?

I can work within any time constraints and modify my presentation to fit your school schedule but typical times are below.

In person – 1 hour; 45 minutes of talking, 15 minutes of drawing combined with Q&A.

Virtual – 45 minutes to mitigate screen fatigue, 25 minutes of talking and 20 minutes for Q&A.

Will she sign books?

Absolutely! I will autograph all books after or before presenting.
For virtual visits, I can send signed bookplates to your school.

Where do I buy her books?

We recommend purchasing books from your local bookstore. However, you may also purchase from Bookshop, Amazon, IndieBound, Books a Million, Powell’s, or Barnes and Noble.

What equipment is needed for a visit?

I will arrive with a presentation loaded on a flash drive.

  • Laptop with powerpoint/keynote
  • LCD projector & screen
  • Microphone (lapel or handheld preferred)
  • Art easel with large pad of paper and markers
