kiss my… !

Another comic I created based on true events on the ipad with procreate. I’ve uploaded some process videos on youtube.

I hope you have a good day!

the sun is also a star

One of my favorite books from the few books I read for my book club last year was The Sun is Also a Star. I drew this quick drawing of the main characters, Natasha and Daniel.

I hope you have a lovely week!

where’s the pasta?

A quick comic I drew last night based on our current reality. We’re attempting to be healthy and it’s hard!

nihara + new items

I’m back from a whirlwind trip to Anaheim for Wondercon. We released some new products there that are now in the shop – a limited edition cupcake warrior tote bag and snuggling sea turtle notepads. Every purchase over $15 will received a free calendar (while supplies last).

I hope you have a great week!

wondercon this weekend!

By request, I drew this Moana for my toddler.

We’re off to Wondercon this weekend and I’m happy to share that I’m a special guest of the show. You can find me there Fri-Sun in Artist Alley table B-01. I will also participate on a couple panels. My spotlight panel is on Sunday at 10:30am, Room 208 with my friend and tv writer Teresa Huang.

If you’re not at the show but around, I will have a signing at Wonderground Gallery on Friday evening from 6-8pm with Eunjung June Kim and Ashley Taylor.

I hope to see you there!

As I travel and am away from my drawing equipment more and more, I decided to invest in an ipad and apple pencil. I started to play with an app that tons of my artist friends have been raving about – procreate. Last night I discovered that it records the creation process! I’m sharing it here:

Tomorrow I will be speaking at St. Victors in San Jose with Gene Yang, if you’re around please join us.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

shubh raatri dost

We are raising our daughter bilingual. She makes jokes, demands and sweet proclamations in Hindi and English. As we build her personal library I noticed a lack of bilingual books that incorporate both languages. And so I set out to create my own. I approached Bharat Babies and they happily agreed to join me on this journey.

In my work, I commit myself to representation, inclusion and love. Creating Shubh Raatri Dost/Good Night Friend is a project very close to my heart. It addresses an important need. With it, I invite you into a culture and language.  I love my culture, my language and books. I am overjoyed to be able to create and share this board book with you.

Shubh Raatri Dost is available for pre-order now. It ships in October. Pre-order exclusives include the options for a signed copy and postcard set.

Thank you for your support, always.

With love,

Nidhi

international women’s day

I was invited to contribute to the Mary Sue for International women’s day. I created a short comic about one of my favorite authors, Arundhati Roy. Read it and my interview here.

I hope you have a lovely week!

Another commission that I love – it’s all I have time for between my book projects and preparing for Emerald City Comicon. I will be exhibiting at booth 409 with the supremely talented Lyla Warren who will have a slew of seedlings for sale.

I will also speak on a few panels about Pashmina. I hope to see you in Seattle.

Stay strong & hopeful.
