They asked me to write a bit about the piece, and this is what is printed beside it. “When I was honored as a White House Champion of Change in 2012, I thought about the ultimate champions – President Obama and the First Lady. They inspire me not only with their steadfast commitment to change, but also (and perhaps more importantly) with their love for each other and this country. last week was a whirlwind! the event at the white house was wonderful, i felt incredibly happy to be a part of such an amazing group of inspiring and hard working individuals. i’ve never felt so patriotic!

we didn’t get a chance to meet Obama, but I created this piece for him – you can see the video of the event here and i speak about my thoughts when creating it. thank you again for all of your support – i am still in a happy state of shock. i’m also including a few photos – there was a post event where i shared some of my work, and me and the hubbahubba at lincoln memorial ^_^

we’re off to DC this morning!

i will be honored at the champions of change event tomorrow april 5th from 11:30a-1:30p EST (8:30a-10:30a PST) – you can watch it live. that morning my bio and a blog post i wrote will also be on the site. so no more drawings this week, but if you’d like to follow my adventure, i will be tweeting about it! otherwise, have a wonderful week ^_^

i am excited and happy to announce that i will be honored at the white house on april 5th as a champion of change. and i’d like to thank you! thank you for your votes, your support and wonderful messages. i was overwhelmed with the response and i still am. the image i created today is an expression of how i feel right now – surrounded by love and light.

it’s been a flurry of activity here as a group of family and very close friends will be joining me in DC – i’m simply ecstatic. the event will be streamed live online as well (more info to come).

i am incredibly excited to share my entry to the white house asian american pacific islander “what’s your story” video challenge. there were hundreds of entries and i am thrilled (and a bit shocked) that i made it to the top. the next step is a public vote, and the top voted finalists will be invited to the white house. i am super happy to share the video and i hope that if it moves you, you will share it with others and cast your vote.

to be quite honest, making it to the top eleven and seeing my video on the white house website is pretty rewarding in itself.

i couldn’t have made such a beautiful video without my dear friends clarissa and seth… they’re adorable and amazing.
