I created this entirely in photoshop in 30 minutes – I usually do the base drawing in flash. I wanted to explore painting on just one layer but old habits die hard! I ended up with 12 layers but that’s a big change for me.
I woke up with this image in my mind because I felt a bit crushed by the news… it feels as though all we have is a little light – but hopefully that’s enough to grow out of these shadows.
I will be at Denver Comicon this Fri-Sunday! If you’re in and around Colorado I hope you’ll come by and say hello. Everyday Love Art will be in Artist’s Valley table A1-13. I will also be speaking about my journey to art at the DMZ (Discussion Media Zone) on Saturday from 1:30-2p.
Hope to see you there ^_^
i love summer! to celebrate i’m taking $10 off my book for this week only (sale ends friday)! ^_^ yay!
When my cousin called to ask me to draw something for her wedding save the date, I was surprised. My family has been very supportive of my career, but being asked to create art for them was a first. As she talked about her fiancé this image immediately popped into my head. I’m honored that I could be part of their special day in this way. ^_^
Meanwhile, the rough sketches for Misty were approved last week. I am now working on the color versions and will be balancing that and thumbnails for Pashmina. Therefore it might be a bit before I post again, but for good reason!
Also, if you missed it, there are still some originals available in my shop.
Have a great week! ^_^
kapatid means sibling in tagalog. geographically (on land and in my heart) i feel close to many places and cultures and the philippines is one of them. when i heard about the typhoon and how many lives it effected, i found it very hard to sit among my comforts. i try to channel that discomfort into something positive – so i create art.
this is for the victims of the typhoon. if you’d like to purchase the print, 100% of the profit will be donated to Oxfam.
UPDATE: we rose $1,300 for the victims of the typhoon. thank you to everyone who purchased the print. we have now retired the print and it is no longer available.
