saturday school – week 2
/1 Comment/in saturday school /by Nidhi Chananilast week was truly a new experience. as soon as i posted i felt relieved but also incredibly unprepared. i spent some time researching hand lettering and realized i lacked the right tools… so i visited the art store.
also in conversation with friends this week, we talked about the limited amount of hindi calligraphy and fonts. the conversation made me even more excited to play and explore. one of the seeming limitations with hindi is the bar connecting the words. as i worked on this week’s lettering, i was thinking about how music flows and connects. so i decided to play with hindi and keep all the words connected with a single bar.
happy saturday!

guitar boy
/2 Comments/in daily drawing, news /by Nidhi Chananii met my hubbahubba in college. he tried valiantly to teach me how to play guitar. i gave up because it was much nicer to listen to him play than to play myself. through the years we’ve been together he’s played in a band called monsters are not myths. the band gave me some of my first chances to create art that left my sketchbook and was seen by others… my art became flyers, posters and album covers. his music and band chartered many firsts, and as the band is playing their last show, i drew this for him & them.
thank you for all the inspiration.
(and, if you’re in san francisco, join me at their last show tomorrow night)
