wild love
i created this illustration almost exactly two years ago in 2010. they were the first giraffes to appear in my work. about a year after i had the pleasure of visiting my friend in africa. it was truly a dream trip… i went on safari, visited an elephant orphanage and a giraffe sanctuary. one of my favorite moments was at the sanctuary… i climbed up their observation tower that put me at eye-level with the giraffes. when i got to the top they handed me some food. before i knew it there was a beautiful, soft, and somewhat pushy giraffe eating out of my hands!
from that point forward, my work has been full of giraffes… and i’m sure it will remain that way. ^_^

when i was in africa, one of the cutest things i saw were boda bodas – bikes that were used as a mode of transport. for a few shilling you and whatever you’re carrying get a ride to the next village or into town.

hello again! i’m back from my travels. what a wonderful trip! i will be playing catch up (with email and with my hubbahubba!) for the next few days… but i will be back to regular sketching next week, meanwhile i’m sharing some of my paper sketches here!
