new site + comicon
i’m super excited to share my newly refreshed website* with you (it’s been a long and arduous process and i’m SO happy it’s finally over)! we have new greeting cards, and for the launch a bunch of my mini wood burnings are on sale and our newest product – rubber stamps! we’re taking the bulk of the rubber stamps with us to san diego comicon next week but i wanted to offer a few of each design online.
meanwhile in the studio i’ve been working night and day on pashmina. you can see one of the shaded pages below. i may have said this before – but its worth repeating – this is the hardest i’ve worked on one thing in my entire career. i cannot wait to share this book with you next year! for now, i’m trying to hit my august deadline.

I am thrilledto be among the Asian American Pacific Islanderartists on display at the White House.My illustration,Champions of Change will be on view for the month of May. They asked me to write a bit about the piece, and this is what is printed beside it. “When I was honored as a White House Champion of Change in 2012, I thought about the ultimate champions – President Obama and the First Lady. They inspire me not only with their steadfast commitment to change, but also (and perhaps more importantly) with their love for each other and this country. shelter owls + zazzle + live drawing
It’s a cozy rainy day here. I haven’t created any new illustrations because I’m pushing forward on Pashmina. I am producing 2-3 pages a day. It may seem like I’m not drawing but I’m drawing more than ever before! My deadline for completion is approaching. The book won’t be available until Fall of next year but I willcomplete it this summer. My publisher will then haveample time for corrections, production and of course marketing! I thought as I got closer I would feel calmer, but I just feel more nervous! I still have a good stretch to wait, so hopefully mynerveswill subside.

I will be in Los Angeles this weekend for Wondercon with my friend and talented jewelry maker Faheema of Unicorn Crafts.
A week later I will return to Seattle for the fourth year exhibiting atEmerald City Comiconwith my friend and talented sculptor, Lyla of Little Brigade.I love Seattle and even though it’s very touristy, I love Pike’s market.

the shade of your love + live drawing
The hubbahubba was looking through my files and came across this custom illustrationfrom 2014 and he exclaimed “Hey, I’ve never seen this!” I forgot to share it soI am sharing it now ^_^ This couple wereengaged under a very unique treeand they wanted me to capture it. As with all commissions, I felt honored to work on something so meaningful.
