what dreams may come
/3 Comments/in daily drawing /by Nidhi Chananiin my early twenties i didn’t know what i wanted to do or where i wanted to go with my life. i tried on careers like dresses, seeing which one fit right. one of the times i remember quite clearly was when i decided to become a nurse – it was less school than becoming a doctor and i could help people. i researched what i would need to do and felt incredibly excited when i presented it to the hubbahubba. he was, as always, incredibly supportive, but gently asked me if my squeamish-ness around blood might negatively effect my wonderful new career path.
and that was my short-lived nursing career.
the world is amazing and beautiful, there are so many paths and options… i feel like everyday is brimming with potential. embarking on these explorations together (whether they are successful or not) makes everything enjoyable.
these past ten years have been full of so much magic, and i simply cannot wait to see what lies ahead, with him.
p.s. thank you to everyone for the sweet messages and joining me in this celebration of our love. ^_^ i’ll be taking a few days off and back to my regular stealth mode posting next week ^_^
237 steps
/3 Comments/in daily drawing /by Nidhi Chananii studied french in high school and i always wanted to visit paris. four years ago i found some cheap tickets off-season and booked them on a whim. the hubbahubba came home to “we’re going to paris!” luckily, he’s used to my spontaneous and impulsive actions.
we were in paris for a week and visited sacre coeur. as we got closer we saw that there was a stairway to the top dome, but we had spent the whole day walking around and i was tired. he pushed me, and we climbed 237 steps to the top – the view was beautiful, the highest in all of paris. we were already informally engaged, and never saw the reason to make a big deal over engagement since it seemed like we simply belong together.
at the top of the dome he completely surprised me. he proposed (even though we were already engaged) because according to him, everyone deserves an engagement story… and now, we have one. ^_^
wookin’ pa nub
/4 Comments/in comics /by Nidhi Chananione of the first things the hubbahubba and i did together was create comics. we explored our creativity, and my goofy and loud side emerged. if i live to love, i also live to laugh. one of my absolute favorite things about him is that he gets me – he knows when i say something that seems serious, that its also funny and… he laughs, which in turn, makes me laugh. i’ve never met anyone who can make me laugh as much, at even the serious stuff.
this is a mini comic that he wrote and i drew. he doesn’t know i devoted time to creating this because i’m always too busy to work on our stuff. so, this one is for you. ^_^
we met in college (anniversary week)
/2 Comments/in daily drawing /by Nidhi Chananithis week’s drawings will be a celebration and gift for my hubbahubba.
we have been married for three years and together for ten years. we met in college and quickly became best friends. through the years we’ve been through many things together. from miserable minimum wage jobs to unbearable sadness, to celebrations and explorations of the world, from beach side to city – showing each other the worst side of ourselves… and the best. i’ll never know who i’d be without him but i do know that the person i am today is because of his love.
for my best friend, happy anniversary. i can’t wait for another decade full of love with you.
