sf zinefest

I was thrilled to be asked to be the guest of honor for this year’s SF Zinefest. I designed the poster and tee and will have a table there along with amazing zine, comic and art makers. I hope to see you on September 2nd!

And my statement about the poster:

“In this design I wanted to capture my love for San Francisco and its inspirational qualities. The city is home, it’s where I’ve dreamt, written and created. I love the way a piece of art can convey two extremes. The cool outside and warm inside. For me the city is one of contrasts – alive yet steady, foggy and bright, vivid and subdued. From the first time I came to San Francisco, which was for a zine fest, until now, it never ceases to amaze me.”

pashmina is out today!

Eeee! Pashmina is officially out today! You can go into your local bookstore, comics shop or library and find it (and if it’s not there, request it!). Thank you everyone for your support, love and kindness through this journey. I hope to see some of you this month on my mini book tour.

I will ask one favor – if you can write a review on Amazon, that helps me a lot!

Thank you to Lyla Warren for animating this beautiful book teaser.

I hope you have a lovely day <3

eggs

My most personal comic about eggs and my first pregnancy is on the Nib.

I want to be clear that I am not anti-vegan nor am I making any correlations between protein and pregnancy. I used eggs as a vehicle to share my experience. I needed to make this comic and I needed to make it in a way that didn’t focus on the day of loss but instead on the before and after. For me those are the times that take the longest to process.

Thank you for reading and I hope you have a lovely week.

the high line

Book Expo was a wonderful whirlwind. I took the opportunity to walk to dinner and enjoy the city after a few interviews and my panel. I held a physical copy of Pashmina in my hands for the first time! Then I signed 100 advanced copies and was introduced as an author ^_^

I’ve been worried about not knowing what to do as a debut author and feeling generally lost. The trip alleviated many of my concerns. I know my worries are only temporarily silenced but while they are – I will embrace happiness.
